Strategic Autonomy & Economic Security
What should Europe secure now if we want to be better prepared for the health threats of 2030?
Recent global crises and geopolitical shifts have exposed critical vulnerabilities in Europe's supply chains for medical countermeasures (MCMs) and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). For health preparedness, strategic autonomy means knowing which capabilities Europe cannot afford to lose, which dependencies can be managed through diversification and how to make resilience economically sustainable before the next crisis hits.
This high-level panel convenes industry, regulatory, and public procurement leaders to discuss what a competitive and resilient European health industry should look like in practice: which capabilities require European action, how policy tools and regulation can create the right market signals, and what industry needs from governments to invest ahead of demand. The discussion will focus on the choices Europe must make now to strengthen resilience while keeping its health industry competitive and connected to reliable partners.
