Securing Health, Strengthening Defence: Critical Role of Civil-Military Cooperation in Health Resilience for Europe
The current geopolitical and security situation, together with the EU’s heavy dependence on external supply chains affecting access to medical countermeasures, calls for a strengthening of European strategic autonomy and enhanced preparedness measures. Civil military cooperation for health resilience including pandemic preparedness, CBRN threats, armed conflict and climate change would extremely improve European preparedness to better counter the threats, respond and recover. In this panel we will discuss the burning issues of the current threat landscape, deficiencies of isolated sectoral preparedness measures and benefits of broader multisectoral preparedness in the future.
